Pornography is everywhere. While we can be cautious about where we go on the internet, sometimes images pop up that we were not expecting. It can happen almost anywhere, from social media to gaming sites. The porn industry knows how images can take hold of your mind, and are constantly looking for new avenues to hook watchers.
Once you have seen pornographic images, it may seem difficult or even impossible to erase the memory from your mind. So what can you do?
Erasing graphic photos from your brain can be tricky, but using the power of prayer can be an incredibly powerful tool.
Reaching out to communicate with a higher power than ourselves can not only give us the peace and comfort we seek, it can also remind us of the connection we all have as human beings with each other.
As you pray, either out loud or in your mind, resist the urge to only pray for yourself. Instead, pray for the person in the image you just saw.
Pray that they might know that they are loved, important, and valuable.
Pray that they may be able to reach out to their creator.
Pray that they might be blessed and healed from pain.
Pray that they will be able to find the path that will give them freedom and happiness.
Thank your creator for the blessings given to both you and the person in the image.
And lastly, pray that you might be able to see them as God sees them.
Understand that pornography exploits real human beings, each with their own lives and feelings every bit as real as yours. Removing that element of fantasy, making yourself aware of the reality of this person’s situation, can go a long way in unsticking pornographic images from your mind.
In addition to prayer, take a moment to replace negative pictures and thoughts in your mind with better ones. Ever Accountable’s Two Week Gratitude Guide can help you get started.
While we can’t always control the images that find us, we can choose whether or not to hold on to them, and Ever Accountable is here to help.
